Hard Rock Hotel Expansion Plans
The new owners of the Hard Rock Hotel unveiled plans on Monday, March 12, 2007 for the $750 million in renovations and expansions of the famous Las Vegas property. The joint-venture partnership between boutique hotel operator Morgans Hotel Group and private-equity investor DLJ Merchant Bank will now move forward with plans to for the 16.7 acres property and the adjacent 23-acres.
The expansion will feature the addition of a new 15-story 550-room hotel tower with a separate 400-suite VIP tower. The Paradise Road parking will be converted 60,000 square feet of convention space along with an additional 35,000 square feet of casino space. Also in the plans is to add 30,000 square feet of new retail space, expand the pool, new bars and restaurants, a new spa and health club. Renovations of the existing 640 hotel rooms and restaurants will begin immediately. Project completion is expected to finished by mid-2009 according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. The Famed Stardust Makes Way for Echelon
The face of Las Vegas continues to change on the famous Las Vegas Strip. One of our icons for over 40 years was the Stardust Hotel which faced implosion early this morning, March 13, 2007. Demolition of the 32 story hotel tower was the final step in preparing the 87 acre site owned by Boyd Gaming Corp. for the planned $4.4 billion Echelon Place hotel-casino development.
Currently, residences are not planned for Echelon which is being designed for 5,000 hotel rooms , a 140,000 square-foot casino, 300,000 square feet of retail, 750,000 square feet ofconvention and meeting facilities, 30 dining , nightlife and entertainment venues. There will be several hotels including two boutique hotels, Delano and Mondrian as part of the 50 per cent joint venture between Boyd Gaming Crop. and Morgans. Developer still believes in growth in the Las Vegas Valley
According to the Green Valley News the Henderson City Council unanimously approved an offer from homebuilder Pardee Homes Feb 20 to purchase 16.4 acres from the city for $7.4 million.
The land, southeast of Horizon Ridge Parkway and Gibson Road, is zoned low-density residential with planned unit overlay.
